Venue: Theatre Royal map Address: Jewry Street, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 8SB Telephone: Box office: 01962 840440 Event: Barry from Watford: Shooting from the New Hip - 7.30pm - Demagogue? Iconoclast? Dilettante? Virtuoso? Ok, these words have nothing to do with the show but they do make it sound clever and that's what it's all about. Shooting from the (new) hip, still alive and kicking, the nation's favourite octogenarian and hit of Radio 2's Steve Wright in the Afternoon and Sky Atlantic's Common Ground returns with his stand-up show armed with fierce one-liners, biting satire plus some effing and that sort of thing for the teens. A rip-roaring, fast-paced hilarious show. 92 year old Barry from Watford was first brought to public consciousness when he became a cult star on Iain Lee's LBC 97.3FM phone-in show. London listeners loved Barry’s sunny outlook and joie de vie and followed him to Iain Lee's show on Absolute Radio. He was also a regular feature in the form of the "lifestyle guru" on Steve Wright in the Afternoon on BBC Radio 2. His viral hits about 'Minty Biscuits' and 'Carpetright' have amassed 100s of millions of hits whilst his Channel 4 game show with Noel Edmonds "Cheap Cheap Cheap" had literally 100s of viewers. Venue: The Railway map Address: 3 St Pauls Hill, Winchester, Hampshire, SO22 5AE Telephone: 01962 867795 Event: The Undercover Hippy - 8pm doors - Nothing to see here ladies and gentleman, please return to your place of work in a calm and orderly manner and resume your productive activities. Oh that? That’s nothing. Well… I mean obviously it’s something, but I can assure you it’s nothing you should concern yourself with. Just a bit of trouble in a far off land. Just a few bad apples getting up to mischief on a naughty island. Just a little bit of white supremacy dressed up as patriotism. Nothing a good cup of tea can’t sort out. Look, Gogglebox has just started… you like that don’t you? Of course you do, who doesn’t! Just sit back and watch some people on telly watching some other people on telly. We’ll take care of all this nonsense, it’s all under control… This October, The Undercover Hippy are on tour once again, promoting the release of their new single “Nothing To See Here”. As always, the band use their music to draw attention to the issues that those in power would rather you ignored. But ignorance is no longer an option. Everyone is in this together and we will all pay the price of choosing to look away. So let’s gather together once again, join our voices in unison, bounce our bodies around to the beat for no explicable reason, and celebrate the joy of existence, whilst also drawing strength for the battle ahead. Because they might stop a single man… but they can’t stop the tide. Venue notes: ID is required on the door.
