Tickets: Full £16.50, Concessions £ 14.50, Friends £ 14.00. Folk vocalist and songwriter Maddy Prior returns to TRW, this time in concert with multi-talented instrumentalist and singer Giles Lewin and vocalist and accordion player, Hannah James. Maddy's career began in the late 60s on the folk circuit, gaining prominence in folk-rock band, Steeleye Span and has seen her collaborate with artists such as Jane Tabor, Martin Carthy, Nic James and Danny Thompson, as well as working on solo projects. Her vesality as an artist is demonstrated by her broad musical scope as a vocalist and songwriter which extends from her own interpretations of traditional folk through to hard rock and ambient electronic textures. This occasion sees her team up with Giles Lewin, a singer with a classical background that has been diluted by some years in the band After Hours. He is a stalwart of the Carnvial Band, another long-time collaboration of Maddy's. Hannah James, who is now a part of Lady Maisry, and has been in the Demon Barbers and Kerfuffle, will join them. |

Presented by OperaUpClose In a new English version by Robin Norton-Hale With piano accompaniment The Barber of Seville has been transported to Jane Austen's England, a world of eligible bachelors, feisty heroines and snobbish relations familiar from much-loved BBC costume dramas. Obsequious Doctor Bartleby has designs on his ward Rosina, but she is far more interested in a handsome stranger (actually a womanising Count in disguise). The whole affair is stage-managed by Figaro, the barber who knows everyone's business and can fix your hair and love life with ease. |
