Formed from an unlikely combination of student-types in Southampton in 2011, the band consists of suitcase percussion, fiddle, flute, guitar, clarinet, saxophone, and accordion. They play a wide range of upbeat folk music - typically English and Irish but they like to dabble in Scottish, Breton and Cornish traditions too, with a touch of klezmer! Threepenny Bit released their first full-length album, Something..., in the Summer of 2011 and have just released their second album, Cartography. With roots anchored in the the work of these two masters, they now present sets of entirely original music, composed by multiple members of the band. They are touring throughout 2026, showcasing music from their debut album, ‘Buried Webs’.
