Mark fronted the four piece over a successful and fruitful 15 year period, scoring 14 top ten singles and 3 top ten albums, whilst touring the UK, Europe and Japan. At the back end of 2011 the decision was made to disband TheBluetones, resulting in a shock farewell tour. Hordes of loyal Bluetones fans turned out in their thousands to give the band they called their own, a fond and sad farewell.

This new album finds Boo focused on the art of reduction, consumed by fine details and found sound, songs where the fragility and beauty of life are laid bear with a stark emotive honesty. 'Before' was recorded in the first weeks of 2019, with supreme Danish multi-instrumentalist Gustaf Ljungren Boo's only collaborator on the set. Whilst this is an album for the times (that echoes the darkness and confusion in Europe surrounding it's pre-Brexit conception), 'Before' is also a timely reminder of the power of simplicity, Hewerdine's lyricism set to a subtle backdrop of vintage instrumentation. He still works part-time in school and leads training in schools all over the UK and beyond. From sharing ideas and funny insights into life in the classroom he has now become the most followed teacher on social media in the UK. A year ago, alongside his younger brother (who also works in school) he started a podcast - Two Mr Ps in a Podcast. In a year, it has been the number one education podcast and amassed over 350,000 listeners. With hits including 'Wishful Thinking', 'Black Man Ray' and 'King In A Catholic Style (Wake Up)', their distinctive AOR-fuelled pop songs were everywhere in the '80s, spending a total of 92 weeks in the charts.
