Venue:  The Railway     map
Address:  3 St Pauls Hill, Winchester, Hampshire, SO22 5AE
Telephone:  01962 867795
Event:  Boo Hewerdine - The new recordings on ‘Before’ are a perfect contrast of mood and theme to the gloriously rich, full band pop sound of 2017’s acclaimed ‘Swimming in Mercury’ album. This new album finds Boo focused on the art of reduction, consumed by fine details and found sound, songs where the fragility and beauty of life are laid bear with a stark emotive honesty. ‘Before’ was recorded in the first weeks of 2019, with supreme Danish multi-instrumentalist Gustaf Ljungren Boo’s only collaborator on the set. Whilst this is an album for the times (that echoes the darkness and confusion in Europe surrounding it’s pre-Brexit conception), ‘Before’ is also a timely reminder of the power of simplicity, Hewerdine’s lyricism set to a subtle backdrop of vintage instrumentation. Event:  Skinnyman - 8pm - Born Alex Holland in Leeds, Skinnyman is one of the few British emcees that needs almost no introduction. Moving as a kid to Finsbury Park, North London, Skinny found a melting pot of cultures suddenly on his doorstep and immersed himself in the musical culture of reggae and dancehall. Highly influenced by Leroy, Chas and fast tongue-talking Papa San, he was introduced to rap at a very early age. While watching the first rappers such as Electro Ascension, Wiggy Wiggy, Grandmaster, Melle Mel and Furious Five, he immediately realized he had been built for that.

Event:  Rhino’s Revenge - 7.30pm - Having rocked audiences across the UK and Europe during 2019, Rhino’s Revenge will hit the road again in 2022. The title of the new tour is taken from the Rhino’s Revenge song of the same name. Played for the first time during the band’s December, 2018, shows, ‘Never Too Old’ has proved to be an instant, sing-along hit. The side band of John ‘Rhino’ Edwards, bass player with rock legends Status Quo, Rhino’s Revenge will once more continue to support Save The Rhino International. “Thanks to the generosity of the people who come to our gigs, we’ve already collected a substantial amount for the charity,” says Rhino.

Electric Eighty (80s Tribute) Saturday 29 January 2022
Venue:  The Railway     map
Address:  3 St Pauls Hill, Winchester, Hampshire, SO22 5AE
Telephone:  01962 867795
Event:  Electric Eighty (80s Tribute) - 8pm - There are not many 80’s tributes bands in the UK that play proper classic 80s new wave tracks and I’ve seen them all, North, South, East and West. These guys set the benchmark. The musicianship is great, vocals are good, and the programming and authenticity of the sounds used is remarkably like the original recordings. Live, the PA and sound is good & clear a, light show is also good. Their main USP is the added brilliance of the original pop / top of the pops / live videos that are synced with their sequencer. Clearly a lot of time and hard work has gone into recreating these 1980’s classics,. They may only be a Trio, but underestimate them you really shouldn’t. If you want 80’s on a night out then I can assure you you will not be disappointed.

Despite the fact that Chris has helped soundtrack so many fans’ lives since his first release in 1977, the passion for innovation and love of playing still drives him to carry on writing rather than sit back and admire his handiwork. Chris recently celebrated his 60th birthday and for 41 of those years he has been writing with Glenn Tilbrook, very much the Odd Couple. When Squeeze take a break from the road, Glenn and Chris have been touring their ‘At Odds Couple Tour’ both in the UK and the US.
