The Blues Band
Start time: 8pm
Tickets: Full £21.00, Conc £19.00, Friends £18.50. Formed in 1979 by ex Manfred Mann group members, Paul Jones and Tom McGuinness, The Blues Band originally set out to play a few pub gigs on Paul's nights off from his then full time career as an actor in London's West end. Seventeen albums later they are still going strong. 2010 saw them make their seventh appearance at Glastonbury and they continue to be perennial favourites on the European Festival scene, renowned for delivering stunning, soulful and expert performances. The blues has always been their first love and Tom's first band The Roosters also included a young Eric Clapton. Later the pair were joined by Hughie Flint and renowned slide guitarist Dave Kelly, who brought in Gary Fletcher to play bass guitar. When Hughie retired, Medecine Head stalwart Rob Townsend joined on drums. Box office: 01962 840440 or online at www.theatre-royal-winchester.co.uk.
