SOUTHERN CATHEDRALS FESTIVAL CONCERT: HANDEL V HAYDN: THE WINCHESTER MUSIC FESTIVAL OF 1800
Start time: 7pm
The Girl Choristers of Salisbury and Winchester with the Gentlemen of the Three Cathedrals in concert. Dr Sam Carrasco takes us through the story of the Winchester Music Festival of 1800, at which Jane Austen is known to have been present. Music will include choruses from Handel's Israel in Egypt and Messiah, Haydn's Creation, with part-songs and glees from the Jane Austen Part Books along with piano music played on a 1795 Broadwood. There will be some audience participation.
