A Thousand Years of Christmas
Start time: 7.30pm
A seasonal show, exploring the moods of Christmas, from mediaeval mysticism to a hangover. The programme takes in Dickensian frosts, seventeenth-century revels, department store Santas and the poetry of Ted Hughes. A new poem by Alexander McCall Smith has been written specially for the show. Singer Sally Bradshaw has performed several versions of this show, each time with distin- guished actors. Artists joining her this year are Graham Seed (famous for playing Nigel Par- getter in The Archers) and pianist Michael Haslam. Michael is renowned for pianistic virtuosity and in this show he also reveals his theatrical side, playing bells and a violin.
