Concert 10 July 8:00pm Winchester Festival: The Cardinall's Musick William Byrd is the greatest English composer of the 16th Century, and he stands next to Shakespeare for the quantity and quality of his creative output. During this year, The Cardinall's Musick will be performing every note of Byrd's Latin church music around the country, celebrating the wit and imagination as well as the deep emotion of his work. Building the programme around the Mass for Four Voices, the group (winners of the Gramophone Record of the Year Award for their work on Byrd's music) will also sing motets for the Ascension in a setting that could not be more appropriate.
