Ruth’s music is inspired by lived experience which makes her a folk singer in essence, but there’s a strong sense of playful rebellion in her delivery that embodies hints of 1920s vaudeville theatre, buckets of indie punk rock attitude and the relentless lyrical energy of a beat poet. Over her career Theodore has carved a unique and instantly recognizable style that has seen her described as an “Original Folk Voice” in the Guardian; “A master of the long-form” and “An Institution” in FATEA magazine. As well as inviting record deals with London based label Aveline Records and current US based label Righteous Babe Records.
