Winchester Festival Opening Concert 1 July 7.30pm. This year's Winchester Festival is launched in grand style with a specially-commissioned fanfare by renowned brass composer Jock McKenzie. The main work, in Mahler's centenary year, is his mighty Resurrection Symphony, whose all-embracing vision will be presented by some of Hampshire's finest young musicians and their conductor Tom Seligman. The Waynflete Singers will be augmented by Wyvern Community Choir and joined by two star soloists with strong local connections. In the spectacular setting of the Cathedral this will be an inspiring and unmissable event.
