British folk-rocker Jon Allen was born in Winchester in 1977. One of his early singles, 2008's "Going Home", was used for a Land Rover commercial, and his debut album, Dead Man's Suit, appeared in 2009. The album earned positive reviews, and Allen made appearances on Later with Jools Holland as well as several BBC sessions; he also toured Europe with Seal. His sophomore effort, Sweet Defeat, arrived in 2011. After a European tour in support of the record, he set about writing and recording the follow-up, Deep River, which arrived in 2014. Allen's fourth album, Blue Flame, was released in early 2018. Its sound palette was notably upbeat and positive throughout, a conscious decision to lift people's emotions during the political and social upheaval in the U.K. in the mid-2010s
